At Goodwill on Saturday they had a half off everything sale. We usually go every month but this month we found a great dining room set. I have been wanting a bench dining set for our informal area for a long time. I was getting so tired of moving big heavy chairs around and sweeping between all their legs. This table came with a bench and two other chairs. And since it was the half off day is was only $70! We quickly decided to buy it and take it home. Unfortunately we later discovered that the previous owners had glued the bench back together after the wood, well MDF, had ripped apart. Tom was pretty upset to discover this while putting it together, but it looked like an easy enough repair. All we needed to do was replace the end piece with solid wood. I had some scrap wood left over from a different project that we used. It turned out to be the perfect width for this bench end.
We cut the wood then screwed it back in and it worked! We fixed it and it was free to fix. Now I just have to decide what color to make it. I really don’t like light oak so I want to paint it ASAP. I am not an expert when it comes to painting furniture so I’ll have to read up on it before I start. But I am still very proud of our new set. Everyone can fit on the bench alone now, and before there was hardly enough room. It really is a great space saver for us.
We got invited to a Halloween party by Tom’s friends from college. They actually have this party every year and last year Audrey was brand now. Here is a picture of us all dressed up. Audrey was very comfortable in her watermelon costume. She likes being snug as a bug. We had a good time. Tom especially enjoyed his sumo costume that he bought at Goodwill last year. It has a fan and battery pack connected to it and it puffs up like a balloon!
Here are some pictures from this Halloween party last year. Aw she was just so sweet and tiny. I really miss this little baby I used to have, but I also love this big baby full of attitude. I just can’t believe this is going to be Audrey’s second Halloween already. Time to get moving on my scrapbook of the last year!
These pictures are our attempt at getting a good picture of all the cousins. My mom wanted to take a picture with all of her grandbabies since we were all in the same house for the week. It was just short of a disaster. Audrey wasn’t into it and then when she was the other babies weren’t into it. It was very funny trying to get them to look at the same time and sit still together. These pictures are so cute and they really showed how chaotic life is when you have babies. I hope we can get a good pictures eventually because they are all so cute. Audrey is going to be very close to my sisters twin girls because she is only 6 months older. I can just imagine them all at 13, calling each other to gossip and going shopping together. I’m excited to see how their relationships grow. Even though we live in separate states, I’m sure they will see each other a lot.
Hello everyone! We have been in Houston since Monday with my sister and mom. We are in a house with 7 month old twins, a 3 year old, and our 12 month old Audrey. It feels a little like an orphanage right now lol. There are babies everywhere and unfortunately my baby likes to scream herself to sleep! It’s very busy here. I really hope I don’t ever have multiples That is a super hard road and the moms out there that have had multiples deserve serious respect.
We we go home tomorrow to see daddy! Audrey has been very friendly with everyone here. She loves her cousins. She was feeding her baby cousin Ava her cracker today. It was so sweet. It’s also so warm here in Houston. I’m not ready for winter, it seems like it just came so fast this year.
I bought all of my supplies at Walmart. It was a $30 project and it was easy to do. I made mine to fit a 6ft table.
We had Audrey’s birthday party this Saturday. I had too much fun decorating. I LOVE party planning and this was so much fun for me. From the invitations to the party decorations, I loved it all. I love DIY projects so I think I see so much possibility when it comes to parties. I was disappointed that a lot of the people we invited didn’t show up. It’s always funny to see who is really supportive and who has better things to do. But we did have about 15 people there so it was still good. My centerpiece of the event was the cake table. I will post more pictures once I get them but here’s a little taste. Audrey had a good time and she loved her jumping castle. She was so funny with her smash cake, such a lady. She was starting to melt down after 4 because she was tired, but once everyone left at 5 she was fine and happy.
I have to collect all my DIY projects and post some videos and instructions for everyone.
I just love her hair! She is such a cutie baby! All I want to do is squeeze this little person. Today was a half off day at Goodwill so we packed the car up and went to find some deals. We had no idea that we would find the PERFECT costume for Audrey. If you don’t know this about me yet let me tell you….. I LOVE WATERMELON! It is amazing and so yummy. Audrey loves it too. But I also love anything watermelon or pink and green. If you walk around my house you will probably find watermelon soap bars, watermelon picture frames, watermelon tea lights, and whatever else have I’ve come across in my lifetime that reminds me of watermelon. But now I have a WATERMELON BABY! ARGGG AG AG AG so cute. It was only $1.00, HOW CAN YOU BEAT THAT? We scored this time at Goodwill. Audrey got a lot of new outfits since she has started to outgrow a lot of her clothing.
Goodwill is great for Holiday decorations too. We bought the cutest little guy for $4. He fits right into our Halloween family.
Today we flew home from Las Vegas to see our birthday girl! Audrey is one today. WOW! We landed in Colorado and it was cloudy and 40 degrees yuck! It was so terrible to leave somewhere warm and sunny for freezing Colorado. The trees had also changed!
But you know what’s funny, the first snow we got last year was the morning after Audrey was born. We woke up the next day to see the ground covered in white. It was special because we got to see the first snow with our new baby girl, born at 5:25pm on October 4. She was a whopping 8lbs and 20 inches long. I was so excited to see our baby, and I couldn’t wait to get home! Unfortunately she was napping when we arrived so we had to wait for an hour. But once she woke up we went right in and got her.
Audrey had the cutest bed head going on from her nap. She stared at us for 5 minutes before she started warming up to us. But eventually she started talking and laughing. She definitely got bigger while we were away. She grew about an inch and really started to look like a toddler.
Audrey’s aunt sent her a present! She was so cute trying to figure out how to use this new tent. SHE ALSO STARTED WALKING!!!!! When we got home she took about 7 steps. OMG! This all happened so fast. I can’t believe we have a toddler! We love her so much. She was also showing quite the attitude when things didn’t go her way. I hadn’t seen her for a whole week so it was cute for today………. Hopefully it won’t get worse, BUT SHE’S JUST SO CUTE!
Awwwwww I wish we had more time to spend with her today. It went too fast. I think I am going to roll her birthday onto tomorrow too so I can feel like we got to spend enough time with out one year old.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our precious baby girl!
We have been in Las Vegas since Friday. We left Audrey with her grandma for the week and they have been having a great time. She’s getting spoiled because her birthday is TOMORROW!!!! I am so so so so so so so saaaaaaaaaad. Well not really, but I definitely will miss the before ONE phase of having a baby. This year went so fast. We definitely miss our little baby with blonde curly hair. She is SO cute.
Here we were at the airport waiting to hand the baby off to grandma
We’ve been enjoying the beach here at the Madalay Bay. Our first room felt a little over used, but they moved us to a room with a king size bed. This room felt less abused, but definitely needed an update. Over the weekend the beach was extremely crowded, but its been empty during the week. We stopped by the Coca Cola store and took a picture with the polar bear.
Saturday night we went to the Mirage to see Daniel Tosh do a standup show! IT WAS HILARIOUS! He was just great. Some crazy drunk lady tried to walk up onstage and when he saw her coming he said “I’m positive you’re not going to make it!”. The timing was perfect and it was so funny. This lady ended up causing other problems throughout the night and Tosh didn’t miss a beat. We ate at a burger place before the show and tried FRIED OREOS! They were so unhealthy tasting. They tasted like oreo flavored donuts.
Monday night we had a black tie event to go to. Obviously we have been busy here! But it’s been a nice vacay away from our little baby. The weather has been great every day and I may even come back to Colorado with a tan!
