Today I have 5 Tom Ford Quads to show you. These sell at $80 a pop, which is INSANELY expensive in my opinion. If you have the money then I would say these are a nice splurge. HOWEVER if I was going to buy a TF item it would be a lipstick not an eye shadow quad. For the most part I felt like something was lacking with each quad. Meaning – I wouldn’t be able to go on a trip and take just one to fulfill both daytime and evening looks. If I’m going to spend $80 on an eye shadow palette I would like it to be a one stop shop kind of deal.
My top picks in order:
Golden Mink – The top gold and copper colors are beautiful glitter shadows! This palette is really nice, but with 2 out of 4 being glitter shadows I can see how this could limit you a bit.
Silvered Topaz – I was not impressed with this quad. The shadows were a nice texture but I felt like the color family was a bit boring.
Orchid Haze & Titanium Smoke
Orchid Haze – a nice purple quad. I have no complaints other than the fact that I rarely reach for a purple shadow. I can’t say that this would be ‘worth’ the cost even though it is nice quality. There are several brands that have purple colors in their palettes for much less money.
Titanium Smoke was my second favorite out of the 5. The top left color looks gold, but it actually transfers as a beautiful silver glitter. These shadows are lovely and this quad is great for night looks. I don’t think this palette would be suited for daytime looks.
Nude Dip – This quad is by far my favorite out of the 5. I thought I was going to feel unfulfilled by not having a matte shadow but I wasn’t. I did a simple daytime smoky eye and I didn’t feel like the shimmer was too much. The colors all blend and work together well. The top left is a great highlight for the inner corners which is a huge bonus for me. I do think that I would add a darker shadow if I were going out in the evening.
It’s been a long time coming but here it is! This summer give away is focused around some of my favorite skincare products currently. Please watch the video to enter the give away! A winner will be chosen randomly next Saturday.
I am a new fan of body oil. This skincare brand was really interesting to me because they use ingredients like truffle in this skincare line. I have several other items to try from them, but this oil has quickly become a staple in my skincare so far. I find it so much easier to spray it on a cotton pad vs. applying moisturizer. I’ll be updating my progress in another 2 weeks.
These lipsticks have a really nice smooth texture. I really like the colors I received. I think I really want to buy more lip glosses because I liked the consistency and the color pay off. Watch my video to hear more!
I have loved the Too Faced line for a long time. This brand is an example of how much product packaging influences people. I am always drawn to the packaging first and the product second when it comes to Too Faced. It really pulls my girl heart strings, so I honestly don’t know why it took me so long to try this stuff. I received a few samples while I had eyelash extensions so I wasn’t able to really try it. Once I made the decision to stop getting extensions I was on the hunt for a mascara. I went back to my old favorite by Hard Candy, but it didn’t have the same magic. I think they may have changed the formula of the Hard Candy Volume mascara because I used to LOVE it and the last tube I tried was disappointing. So on I went in search of a new mascara. I ended up having problems keeping my lashes curled. It seemed like anytime I curled my lashes and then added mascara they would fall flat. No amount of curling was helping them stay up, even products like the Benefit Rollerlash didn’t work. I never used to have any issues with keeping my lashes curled so this was new territory. There is a super talented makeup artist called Amrezy and she mentioned that this was her favorite mascara. This is when I finally decided to go out and give it a try, and I’ve been loving it. The packaging it so cute and sturdy. I think it has an aluminum outer so that gives it some weight. The brush doesn’t look ‘user friendly’ but it is. I was using the L’Oreal Voluminous and I think it’s good……..but I always thought it was a tad too wet. I had to be careful applying it or my lashes would clump. I’ve been using the Better Than Sex mascara for about a week now and I really like it. Some days after I apply it my curl goes flat, but I can easily re-curl my lashes and it actually holds. The only CON I have is that it does flake a little bit. I imagine that the older the tube gets the more the formula will flake……I just don’t know how long a tube will last yet. Right now I only notice 3-4 small flakes at the end of the day so it’s pretty easy to just wipe away.
So now the big question – “Is it better than sex?”. Well I have to say NO of course not, at least to me haha.
I have tried SO many powders in my lifetime. This Dior Skin powder is pretty amazing. Every time I go on vacation to a humid area, this is the foundation I use. It has SPF 25 and I am the color 020. The compact is refillable. So once your powder is out you just buy a refill and you can see I am just about out. I have owned this product for about 4 years. I have used it on and off like most of my other makeup products. I rarely make it through a makeup product, but I just keep going back to this one. It has taken me a long time to use this up but I switch up my makeup routine seasonally. I use translucent powder a large part of the year so this powder gets a break. This is not cheap, but after years of using it I can say it’s worth it. It has very good coverage and the texture is very smooth. When I use cheaper drugstore powders they always seem to have these tiny granules in them. After you go through the first layer you can see little bumps on the surface. I rarely buy products again because I like to try new items, but I plan to repurchase this.
Here you can see the bumps I am referring to in cheaper powders. This is the maybelline instant age rewind. I liked it until the bumps showed up.
The Aesthetica Cosmetics Contour Kit was being sold for $19.99 and my goodness it looks JUST like the Anastasia Contour Kit at HALF THE PRICE! Now this is something I can work with. I was so excited for a possible dupe and I ordered it. It just arrived today and guess what, it is a perfect DUPE. I would even guess that it came from the same manufacturer. These 2 palettes are identical in texture and color. Needless to say I am THRILLED to have found this DUPE. When the Groupon is sold out make sure you guys search on Amazon, I saw it on there too. WOHOOOOO I am so happy!
I like this pink. It’s a very easy color to wear. I have yet to wear it a full day though.
These lipsticks are pretty unique. I bought the colors Pure Hollywood and Lovely. I am a nude lipstick lover, it’s just what I’m comfortable with. I see all these beauty gurus wearing all these different fun colors and I’m envious. I need to branch out a little more and use colors that make me uncomfortable.
HOW THEY APPLY
Imagine what water would feel like to apply with this applicator……that is how I would describe this. Of course it is a bit thicker than water, but the feeling on the lips is very moist and wet for the first few seconds. They are very easy to apply and so smooth. After about 15 seconds the color starts to seep into the lips and the stain takes hold. The color does take a few seconds to set up and really reveal what it will look like. The color also changes as time goes on.
Matte…….SO matte. I like the matte look right now. I do struggle to keep my lips from peeling so I have to be careful with what lip products I use. These lipsticks don’t do dry lips any favors…..BUT they didn’t make my lips any drier. After wearing them for a few hours my lips were not any worse than when I first applied. Your lips do feel “tacky” when you rub them together, but I don’t mind that. This exaggerates lip lines like crazy though. As time goes on, the lip lines look deeper and deeper. After about 2-3 hours of wear the lines start to make me uncomfortable.
I was disappointed that this color came out to a more peach/brown nude on my lips 😦 Everyone has natural color to their lips that will effect how lipsticks show up. I was hoping this nude would be more pink like I’ve seen on a lot of other reviewers….. It’s still a nice nude for me, just not the nude I was wanting.
After 2 hours you can see in the last picture that Pure Hollywood has become more brown and less orange than when I first applied it. Every hour this lip color seems to change a bit. I’m really interested to try the darker colors now.
I was introduced to this face cream by the youtube beauty guru – Tati. She was talking about this in one of her videos and it sparked my curiosity. I just used the last of my face cream and I have been looking for a new one to try. I like trying new things for my skin and rarely ever re-purchase things. I’ve used products from all over, in every brand and price range. Skincare can get really pricey depending on what your priorities are. My focus currently is anti-aging and this claims to be “natures Botox”. To learn more about this product here is their website. It tells you all about the effects of bee venom and how it tricks the skin…blah blah blah.
Beenigma is on the more expensive side of face cream. I paid 64.99 and that was with a 50% discount code…………. On TOP of that it was $9.95 in shipping – a total of $78.83. Now come on Beenigma, if you’re going to sell a face cream that is higher end at least give us free shipping. It bugs me when you spend a lot of money on something online and they don’t cover the shipping. I will avoid buying something online BECAUSE of the shipping and I’m sure I’m not the only one.
I am going to start using this cream tonight and I will update you in ONE WEEK. I really hope this turns out to be an AMAZING product that really does what it claims. The bee venom thing makes sense for the most part, but I think the skin will eventually stop reacting to it. Sort of like when you plateau because you keep your exercise and diet the same. Well let’s find out…
